How can you manage the temperature of pool water that is too hot?

With summer, sunny days follow one another, and perhaps even the heat wave is here. This is the ideal time to make the most of the pool. But the sun causes a significant increase in the temperature of the water, the chlorine consumption is higher because the UV rays of the sun break down the chlorine. It is therefore essential to check the quality of the water every evening if you do not want to swim in green and too hot water. Which is nothing to get excited about! So how do you limit temperature variations and heat spikes? How to manage pool water temperature and keep water healthy?

What are the means to limit the rise in temperature of the pool water?
What are the means to limit the rise in temperature of the pool water?

The sun is out, and there is nothing you can do about it, or change the situation! The pool water has reached 28°C and above, and this should continue. So, it's time to react to limit the rise in temperature of the pool.

If the pool is equipped with a reversible heat pump, it's time to turn on the cooling function. Simply program the machine to a set temperature and you're done.

During the day, during the hottest periods, if the pool is not in use, when swimming is over and/or between two swims, it is better to cover the pool with the safety cover (opaque) or the submerged shutter. Be careful, the summer cover promotes photosynthesis and therefore the development of algae. It is therefore necessary to prefer an opaque or reverberant bubble cover which will be better suited. Covering the pool during hot weather has a dual purpose: limiting evaporation and the rise in water temperature.

It is possible to protect the pool with shade sails, parasols, in particular for moderately sized above ground pools.

Evaporation during these times is greater, up to 2 centimeters per day. The water level must be at 2/3 of the skimmers so that the pump does not lose its prime. This supply of water has the advantage of being able to lower the temperature of the water by a few degrees.

Another possibility, if the swimming pool is equipped with an audible or peripheral alarm, the pool can remain open at night, however, there will be evaporation of the water.

Summer can arrive, now you have the tricks to keep the water clear and refreshing throughout the summer period.
